Top Flite XL Club Set Review

With summer approaching you might be interested in taking up golf, however are mindful of the potential investment required for clubs by popular brands like Ping, Cobra and TaylorMade. However you have come across Top Flite and might be wondering who they are, along with if it is worth you investing in their Top Flite XL club set.

In this Top Flite XL club review, I’ll let you know all of the pros and cons of the set to help you decide if these clubs are right for you.

What is included in the Top Flite XL stand bag?

As standard in the Top Flite XL stand bag you can expect a mixture of 10 golf clubs:

  • A driver
  • A 3 wood,
  • 4-5 hybrids
  • 6-9 irons
  • A pitching wedge
  • A putter
  • Headcovers

In my opinion this set covers all of the basic essential golf clubs a beginner would need to start golfing with to be successful. When I received Top Flite’s bag I instantly noticed how lightweight it is, even with all 10 clubs in.

The bag consists of a variety of nylon pockets making it easy to carry all of your golfing accessories such as ball markers and personal valuables around the golf course with you.

The Top Flite XL Golf Clubs Overview

This set of Top Flite clubs will allow anyone to pick them up and instantly sharpen their game as their clubs combine an oversize sweet spot on the clubheads and length allowing golfers to achieve high levels of accuracy even over difficult distances. This makes the Top Flite XL clubs very forgiving and potentially the perfect set for people learning how to hit a golf ball

Both the driver and irons are super lightweight, helping beginner golfers to generate speed through their golf swing allowing the ball to travel down the fairway. And a key benefit to the Top Flite XL putter is that you can easily customize it to suit your golfing style.

Pros

The XL club set is sold at a very affordable price point so you don’t have to take out a second mortgage.

Designed with inexperienced golfers in mind.

You can easily customize your golf clubs in order to suit your technique.

Top Flite are known for manufacturing quality golf balls and this isn’t lost on their clubs.

This set is available to both right and left handed golf players.

Cons

The club set is missing additional irons such as long irons which are helpful to push up the fairway and sand wedges to play out of bunkers

The Top Flite XL club set is more expensive compared to knock-off sets like Pinemeadow.

Suitability

Top Flite’s XL set has been purposely designed for beginner golfers with a higher handicap. This is why they have oversize offset clubheads and low centers of gravity to allow for a more forgiving golf experience by ensuring accuracy and consistency aren’t lost.

Shaft options

With the Top Flite golf clubs coming as a factory manufactured set you don’t have the ability to choose from a wide selection of shafts.

As standard the irons and hybrids come with a steel shaft which will help you gain more control in your swinging motion increasing your consistency levels. Where as the driver and woods are produced with a lightweight yet forgiving graphite shaft which both help to increase the ball speed.

Forgiveness

As an amateur golfer one of my favourite features of the Top Flite XL club set is how forgiving they are. This is created because of each clubs low centre of gravity and offset design.

I tested this out by applying Strike Spray to my drivers head and purposely hitting an off the centre sweet spot shot to see if I could reach the same target. And I can confirm that even when performing an imperfect drive I was still able to consistently hit the target.

This helps to make the XL club set a strong contender for inexperienced golfers.

Price point

If you’re in the market for an affordable golf club set that is extremely forgiving allowing you to consistently perform accurate shots I recommend you keep reading.

Top Flite’s XL club set provides exceptional value for money with 10 high quality golf clubs, headcovers and a bag all for a great price, making it hard to beat.

Aesthetics

This XL club set has been produced to have a clean design to go with the red and black contrasting stand bah which is in keeping with any top performing brand.

I personally find that this set will help any novice golfer blend in with the professional on the fairway.

Accuracy

In my experience I found these clubs to have high levels of accuracy, even for the longer clubs such as the 9-iron, 4-5 hybrids and driver which you sometimes might experience a lack of control with impairing the shot accuracy.

Material

Top Flite XL golf set is produced using a variety of materials such as stainless steel for the irons to provide greater levels of forgiveness. Whereas titanium composite is used for the driver enabling you to generate a faster golf swing to propel the ball further.

Durability

With the Top Flite XL being manufactured with titanium composite and stainless steel it helps to make the clubs more durable making them perfect for a beginner to learn golf as it’s inevitable for the clubs to take a bit of a beating.

Conclusion

Overall, I personally think the Top Flite XL golf club set is the ideal for someone looking to start golf or a golfer with a high handicap as from the get go you get all of the necessary clubs for a reasonable price minimising your risk as golf is not for everyone.

Whereas if you are an experienced golfer with a mid to low handicap and are considering buying the Top Flite XL set, I probably wouldn’t recommend it for you. This is because as a better golfer I feel as though the set is missing additional clubs such as a sand wedge which are beneficial to have in your bag.
