Jones Utility Trouper Stand Bag Review

When it comes to golf bags most people think the same thing, “It’s a golf bag, they’re all the same right?” They’re designed to be put on the back of a cart and carry your clubs from hole to hole.

Having since used Jones Utility Trouper golf bag for the last couple of months it has helped redefine what I thought I needed in a golf bag and then some.

Below is my honest review of Jones Utility Trouper stand bag which covers everything from my favourite features to the design and performance before reaching my overall verdict.

Design

Jones’ Utility Trouper uses a simple design that will likely appeal to most golfers because of its understated look at  first glance, separating it from the big brands like Callaway.

When creating this bag they have really considered the layout of the bag making it super easy for you to organise your golf clubs across the five different golf compartments.

There is also a small leather strap that keeps your umbrella in place so you’re always prepared should it rain mid round.

The Utility Trouper comes in a wide variety of colours such as black, green and navy. However if none of the available choices are taking your fancy you have the ability to make it truly unique, with Jones custom embroidery options for a small fee.

Features

Dual Side Pockets

These dual side pockets are lined with a soft cloth which is perfect to keep your valuables safe in, and the other pocket lined with nylon which I often used to store tees and ball markers in.

Cooler Compartment

In the Utility Trouper Jones designed a cooler compartment to keep two cold drinks chilled for the whole round. This isn’t something I’ve seen before in the likes of TaylorMade golf bags before and is up there with my favourite features of this bag, as you can’t beat a nice cold drink after a round of golf.

Speaker slots

Although music on the golf course is often banned at more courses as it’s often thought to be a distraction to golfers, I love being able to listen to music at the end of a golf game. Jones’ Utility Trouper golf bag has an inbuilt mesh pocket which is ideal for storing your phone and attaching your bluetooth speaker to.

Durability

From the stitching, zippers and material selection the product design team at Jones truly outdid themselves to create a golf bag that lasts for years and years.

Having tested this out over the winter months this Utility Trouper golf bag has withstanded many rain storms and even hail sometimes but in spite of this my valuables have remained safe and dry. On occasions the bag did get muddy however it was very easy to wipe down and clean making it look almost new again.

On-Course Performance

The bag is extremely lightweight, weighing in at approximately 2.2kgs despite having a sturdy stand which is highly impressive. As standard the Utility Trouper arrives with well padded yet rigid straps so it takes a bit of time to get used to and adjust them to your preferred liking. However over time the straps become more flexible and comfortable so no matter how many clubs, golf balls and other unnecessary items you bring you won’t have any shoulder aches or issues.

Conclusion

Overall, if your golf bag is due for an upgrade and are wanting something that will easily fit all your clubs in plus accessories yet has an understated look, I’d definitely recommend Jones Utility Trouper. As in my opinion it is extremely durable, purpose built all while allowing you to remain stylish on the golf course.
